The Red Delicious 1921 in Iowa (the USA) evolved from a mutation of Golden Delicious.

Fruit

The apple has a crimson opaque colour. It is conical in shape, medium sized to large and with five pronounced bumps around the calyx area.

The Red Delicious is a firm apple, juicy and sweet, with variety-typical flavour.

Maturity

At the beginning of to in the middle of Septembers.

Storage

In cold storage to at the end of November, in CA storage until the end of February.

Recommendation

Besides the usage as fresh apple the Red Delicous is well suitable for fruit salads, desserts, strudels and sweets.
