In 1921, the Red Delicious evolved from a mutation of the Golden Delicious in Iowa, USA .
The apple has a crimson opaque colour. It is conical in shape, medium to large in size with five pronounced bumps around the calyx area.
The Red Delicious is a firm, juicy and sweet apple with variety-typical flavour.
From the beginning until the middle of September.
In cold storage until the end of November and in CA storage until the end of February.
Besides being eaten as a fresh apple, Red Delicious is well suited to fruit salads, desserts, strudels and sweets.
