Around 1890 Golden Delicious was discovered as a coincidence seedling in a back garden in west Virginia/USA. Today it is world-wide cultivated.
The colour of the Golden Delicious varies from green yellow to golden. Fruits from hilly locations are characterised by their typical red cheek. The apples are medium sized to large and conical shaped.
The taste of Golden Delicious characterizes itself as juicy, sweet aromatic and with fine fruit acid.
In the middle of Septembers.
In cold storage to at the end of November, in CA storage until the end of August.
Is well suitable for fresh consumption, in addition for baking and cooking, as well as for different desserts, fruit salad, strudels and sweets, cocktails and compote.
