The Fuji apple was bred during the year 1939 in Morioka, Japan and was developed from a cross breeding between the Rall’s Janet and Red Delicious.
The Fuji has a gently pink to crimson, easily striped, opaque colour on a yellow-greenish primary colour. It is medium sized, compact and very juicy. An occasional occurrence of an easy glassiness attests to the high sugar content.
The taste of the Fuji is extremely aromatic and it is a firm, juicy and sweet apple.
From the beginning until the middle of October.
It may be put in cold storage until the end of of April and in CA storage until at the end of of June.
Due to its extraordinary sweetness and the firm flesh, the Fuji goes especially well in cakes or sweets.
