It is the oldest variety of styrian apple that is actually a coincidence seedling. To honour the heir to the throne it was named after the Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria-Hungary and was first introduced in the world exhibition of 1873.
It is a small to medium sized apple that is flattened and round in shape with firm flesh. The shade is a greenish primary colour with an opaque coloured sun-lateral red face.
It is finely spiced with a refreshing sourish and juicy taste.
From the middle to the end of September.
In cold storage until the end of December and can be put in CA storage until the end of March.
